About Me
Hi, I’m Jill Rosche, also known as jillcate. I make a living creating maps and analytics dashboards for a local utility.
2018 Esri Map Book
In May of 2017, I made a poster for a map competition at a regional GIS forum; my map won first place, based on a vote by forum attendees. One of the prizes for winning the competition was that my poster got to be displayed at the 2017 Esri User Conference held in San Diego that summer. Esri then chose a portion of that poster for inclusion in the 2018 Esri Map book.
The entire poster is displayed below. I created this map with data from a USGS publication detailing the sources and uses of water as a primary natural resource with an emphasis on the water sourced from public suppliers, i.e. local and municipal water utilities. I used both ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS for Desktop.
Thesis Project from College: An Atlas of Women in American Government
In 2012 I created an atlas illustrating where women represented specifically state house and senate districts in all 50 states. The results indicated that no states are particularly great about female representation in state government, but it has come a long way from even a few years ago. I also mapped the progress of women in the US Congress through time. You can download the project by clicking this link which will take you to a Google Docs page where you can download the Atlas. It's a large PDF document, so that's why it's not hosted here. If you're a member of the Thomas Cooper Library in Columbia, South Carolina, you can find a hard copy there. Note: the data for this project were collected through October 2011.
